Abstract

The principles and methods of geodesy research in solving various human problems are analyzed. Geodetic measurements help to prevent disasters: identify areas of risk of landslides, faults; monitor deformation of buildings, etc. All this helps to reduce damage from natural disasters. The issue of how to use geodetic data to monitor land use, monitor deforestation, assess the condition of agricultural land, conduct environmental monitoring, i.e. track pollution of territories, changes in shorelines, and soil degradation is considered.
