Abstract

A complex of crisis events that have impacted the global shipping industry in recent years. The impact of these events on maritime cargo transportation in general and grain transportation in particular is examined. Modern studies reflecting current trends in the market of cargo carriages is analyzed. It is noted that current military and political crises negatively impact the transportation process, resulting in higher transportation costs, increased risks, higher insurance premiums, longer distances of cargo flows and more prolonged voyages. It is also noted that these crisis events contribute to increased demand for transportation. The state of the global grain cargo market is analyzed. An increase in grain cargo flows is noted. A range of factors that contributed to the increase in grain transportation is examined. It is noted that maritime transport is the most competitive in the transportation of agricultural products. The impact of military and political crises on sea freight from 2022 to 2026 is considered. The blockage of the Suez Canal, military actions in the Black Sea, and the current fighting in the Strait of Hormuz are examined. The positions of the world's leading grain exporters are analyzed. It is noted that these military and political conflicts have resulted in a shift in power among the leading agricultural exporters. It is found that countries directly involved in the military and political standoff were able not only to maintain their positions but also to strengthen them, while players that had previously been leaders in the grain transportation market ultimately lost their leadership.
