Security of transportation of dangerous liquid cargo by sea
Main Article Content
Abstract
Sea transportation of dangerous liquid cargoes (in bulk) is carried out by specialized tanker vessels: tankers, chemical carriers, gas carriers with equipment for maintaining temperature and pressure, in compliance with strict international safety and environmental standards, which are ensured by compliance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), including the SOLAS Convention (safety of life) and the IMO Code (dangerous goods). When transporting liquid cargoes in containers, containers, it is necessary to comply with the rules of packaging, labeling, safe placement of cargoes on the vessel, especially dangerous ones, and all issues related to the safe transportation of liquid cargoes require mandatory crew training. The safety of transportation of liquid cargoes by sea is also ensured by the use of sealed tanks or tank containers, requires compliance with the temperature regime, taking into account viscosity and density, and the presence of permits for the transport of specific bulk cargoes on this vessel. The main measures to ensure safe transportation, as well as include monitoring the serviceability of equipment, correct labeling of hazardous substances, preventing overloading and strict adherence to the speed regime to prevent the vessel from capsizing. The properties of the cargo determining the degree of fire hazard include: pressure of the immediate vapors, flash point, flammability limits, density.
